Spotify Lite for Android devices is launched for the Middle East

Spotify is taking the next step after launching in the Middle East with the launch of the Spotify Lite. The new Lite app weights only 10 MB, making it quick to install and load while offering the same great listening experience like the standard Spotify app.

Many popular apps like Facebook and Uber have been releasing ‘Lite’ versions of their own apps for Android-powered devices, catering to markets where there is limited mobile broadband bandwidth and users may not have the latest smartphones.

Users will be able to search/ play their favorite songs and artists, save them, share with others, discover new music, and enjoy playlists made just for you. Some of the Middle East markets that can use the new app include Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar

Special additions to Spotify Lite

The minimum requirement for the Lite app Android Jelly Bean (4.3). Free and Premium users can enjoy it alongside or independently from the main app.

The app comes with a few extra features that makes it a perfect fit for older devices and operating systems. The app has the ability to set a data limit and you’ll be automatically notified when you reach it. This way, you’ll be able to focus on finding your next favorite song—not worrying about data.

Don’t worry if you’re running low on storage on your older Android smartphone. Spotify Lite also allows you to control your streaming cache, and you can clear it with a single tap.
