After all the leaks showing the redesigned camera bump on the back, the iPhone 11 was announced at the Apple keynote. It looks to be a successor to the popular iPhone XR, but it’s clear that there are many differences to this.

Upgrades to the iPhone 11

There’s a new A13 Bionic SoC chipset that powers this new iPhone, giving it more efficiency and faster performance. That means a newer GPU and CPU to oversee all the apps running on the smartphone.

The iPhone XR came with just one camera lens on the upgrade, and that gets an upgrade to including a dual-camera system. You have a wide angle and ultra wide angle lens (120 degree view) that can easily be switched on-the-fly.

Low-light photography gets a significant boost with a new Night Mode that switches on automatically and it works for both lenses.

Just as the iPhone 11 takes great photos, you can’t ignore its native video capabilities. Leveraging both the wide and ultra-wide lenses, you can easily switch between them on the fly while recording. Both of them support 4K at 60fps.

The front-facing camera is now a 12MP TrueDepth that also supports 4K video recording; in addition, it also supports with slow-motion video. Expect to see Slofies, as coined by Apple.

iPhone 11 details

While it still maintains 4G/LTE support across various bands with no sight of 5G (rumor has it that the 4G/LTE performance is even faster than the previous iPhone models), Apple has taken a different path by future-proofing its WiFi connectivity. The iPhone 11 now comes with support for WiFi 6 just like their competitors.

If you like to watch your movies without headphones, you’re in for a treat. It now incorporates Dolby Atmos, providing an even more immersive audio experience whether it’s for music, movies or gaming.

Price starts at AED 2,949 (similar pricing in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain); will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The iPhone 11 will come pre-installed with iOS13, which will be released separately for other iPhone models.
