I know it’s been a month since I last published something tech-worthy for the Middle East. This Ramadan has been quite different given the pandemic circumstances. However, it served as the perfect time for Talabat roll out something new given the food cravings – a new pre-ordering feature that allows customers to order in advance. After unifying much of their parent company’s presence to its main app, this is quite a welcome addition.

Even though it launched specifically for Ramadan, scheduling orders are going to become a convenience. It’s also about putting the local needs of customers and restaurants at the forefront of new product features.

The pre-order option greatly benefits restaurant partners, allowing the opportunity for optimisation in kitchen processing times around peak ordering times.

Customers can select the new ‘Schedule’ option upon checkout by tapping ‘schedule,’ which is located beside ‘order now’. Customers can then select the time from the available options listed.

Don’t believe me? Hear it straight from Francisco De Sousa, Managing Director of talabat Qatar: ‘With our new schedule feature, we want to allow our customers to order whatever they want at the time they want. This isn’t just limited to Iftar and Suhoor, but can also be used to order food during other times, as well as groceries!’

After testing out the new ‘schedule’ feature with an order from Vapiano, I’ve noticed that you can schedule your order up to 3 days in advance. Note that your order will be charged immediately. in addition to food orders, this can easily help with grocery orders especially if it’s for Daily by Talabat.

You need to be running the latest version of the talabat app, which you can download via the App Store or Google Play.
