Students are back to classes, especially for the many undergraduate and graduate students. Even as AI is permeating its way across our daily routines, it’s a good opportunity to dive deep and learn about it as you can claim a free one year subscription to the Google AI Plus tier.

When they offered this last year, only select countries in the region were eligible. This new offer has expanded to more countries across the MENA region. Given the recent milestones for Gemini, this is definitely a sweet offering to further drive up adoption of their AI Agent and showcase its strength in education.

Student surprises and perks

While it was first officially announced on the Google blog few weeks ago, the details highlighted that students around the world would get the Google AI Plus tier (note that it was launched in the MENA region back in January 2026). As I’m currently pursuing my graduate studies here in the USA, I was eligible for AI Pro tier which is exclusive to students in the USA and Canada.

That doesn’t mean students in the MENA region are missing out, as the AI Plus tier still has a significant number of perks for students to avail:

• 400GB of storage
• double higher usage limits in Gemini
• Access to Gemini Omni
• and more

Making it even more useful for students, the Gemini app has a dedicated hub for students with tools and offers. If you’re a visual learner likes to see things, you can also create interactive visualizations to help explain topics you want to ask about. Studying can become a little chaotic, and study notebooks can serve as a guide in the learning process.

Student eligibility

If you’re wondering which countries in the region can claim, it’s only in markets where the Google AI Plus tier is currently available: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and UAE.

Students in the MENA region should follow the steps and add a payment method as well (you won’t be charged, but it’ll be used once the free period expires). If you don’t plan to use it afterwards, you can easily cancel it without any penalty. Have your college email ready as that will be used to verify your enrollment status, along with additional documents you may have to upload for further verification.
