Apple Sports is a free app for iPhone that gives fans access to real-time scores, stats, and more. It was initially released in three markets back in early 2024 and then slowly expanding to more countries while adding more sports leagues: golf, tennis and F1. As of today, Apple has open the floodgates by rolling it out to more than 170 countries; this includes many in the MENA region.

The Apple Sports app keeps fans up to date on the following leagues currently in season. It gives fans a simple and fast way to keep abreast on the teams and leagues they love.
Designed for speed and simplicity by putting fans’ favorite teams and leagues front and center with a simple, intuitive interface.
- Users can customize their scoreboards on Apple Sports by following their favorite teams, tournaments, and leagues.
- Fans can also add widgets to their iPhone, iPad, and macOS Home Screens to track the progress of their sports leagues in real-time.
- Fans can easily navigate between scores and upcoming games; explore play-by-play information, team stats, lineup details, and live betting odds
- Tap to go to the Apple TV app to watch live games from Apple and connected streaming apps.
- Apple Sports will also seamlessly sync with favorites selected within the My Sports experience including in the Apple TV app and Apple News.
- Fans can also add widgets to their iPhone, iPad, and macOS Home Screens to track the progress of their sports leagues in real-time.

Timed to lead into the FIFA World Cup 2026™
The timing of the Apple Sports app expansion arrives on the heels of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026™. Apple definitely wants to capitalize on the momentum, helping fans by allowing them to explore tournament groupings and customize their scoreboards. You can easily follow the entire tournament or your favorite national teams, making it easier to stay on top of key moments when the tournament begins in June.
If you choose to follow a team, Live Activities will be enabled on the iPhone Lock Screen or Apple Watch. This lets you follow every moment of a match with just a quick glance, and works for all other sports leagues. Fans can easily jump to the Apple TV app with a single tap to find live matches on connected streaming services throughout the tournament.
Additional features designed to keep users informed and engaged throughout the tournament include:
- Tournament bracket view: The clean, scrollable view of matchups and results for each round allows fans to easily track a team’s progression from the group stage through their final match.
- Visual formations: Enhanced game cards feature visual formations for each team’s starting lineup to provide deeper tactical insight ahead of each match.
- One tap to Apple News: Apple News connects fans directly to comprehensive editorial coverage, including the latest headlines.

You can download the app from the App Store now to use version 4.0 as part of the expanded rollout. In the future, we can expect additional leagues will become available on the app for their upcoming seasons.
