Announced at House of Instagram virtual event on 15 March 2021, Instagram is expanding the availability of Reels to more countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. When it launched globally in august 2020, Egypt was the only country in the MENA region to access it.
Remeber how you saw someone’s Stories which had Music, and it shows “Instagram Music isn’t available in your region”? That’s now a thing of the past, as Facebook and Instagram have rolled out Music for user across the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Twitter is trying out new shopping features, and looks like it’s being done here in the Middle East. Currently, it shows up on an Android device. Expect it to expand to iOS and web in the future.
It’s time for Instagram users to “reel it in”. Reels was launched worldwide in 50 countries and Egypt is the first one in the MENA region to avail it.
With so many Instagram users in the Middle East and the brands using it, it’s inevitable that the next step would be to bring shopping experience. Debuting in 2017 and available in select countries, shopping tags are now available in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and UAE.
