Samsung Galaxy S22 series coming to the Middle East

With the Samsung marketing engine cylinders firing, there was defintiely a lot of hype for the new Galaxy S series and their Unpacked keynote came with a few new surprises. As always, the Samsung Galaxy S22 family debuts with the Galaxy S22 and S22+ (the Ultra will have its own spotlight, as that deserves special attention).

Same but still different

The new models still sport the same look on the exterior, but there’s been a slight change in the size for both the Galaxy S22 and S22+. They’re now a .1″ smaller, which also brings down the battery capacity. That is compensated with the new 4nm SoC, which should drive lower power consumption and keep your device running longer.

There’s a lot of hope on this new SoC because it’s powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 2200 chipset. The biggest surprise is that it includes the AMD RDNA 2 architecture (same graphics tech in PC and consoles).

We’re talking about GPU features like ray tracing which you’ve seen in the latest PC GPUs and consoles like the PlayStation 5 (don’t expect to get identical visual quality on mobiles unless you want to burn your pocket).

You’ll probably notice a small tweak on the physical chassis of both Samsung Galaxy S22 models – the camera bump now matches the colours on the back with a metal frame for a unified look. The camera sensors get some upgrades on the inside, with a 23% larger sensor compared to the previous model paired with Adaptive Pixel technology to draw in more light.

Enough with the details, as the below tabel will help breakdown the specs for both the S22 and S22+.

While these models come preinstalled with Android 12 in the form of Samsung’s One UI, they’ve revised their support plan for OS upgrades. Users will now get four generations (instead of the previous three) of Android OS upgrades, which defintiely adds more longevity to the device. This benefit also extends to the Galaxy S21 series and the recent Galaxy S21 FE.

Pre-orders galore

Pre-orders have gone live across the Middle East region and they come with additional free gifts (varies by mobile carrier based on country of residence).

For those in the UAE, ordering either Samsung Galaxy S22 models online will net you the privilege of picking exclusive colour options you won’t find elsewhere in the Middle East region.
