It’s finally happening, as residents of Qatar can now shop online at Amazon.ae and have their purchases delivered to them. This completes the GCC regional coverage after many years.

It’s been 7 years since they bought Souq and then rebranded in 2019. They have expanded their footprint slowly across the region with Saudi Arabia. Then accelerated to Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain opening up shopping on Amazon.ae during the pandemic.

Wrapping up the GCC coverage

It’s the very same Amazon that you know if you’ve used it, and available in English and Arabic. You’ll get to browse and shop hundreds of thousands of eligible products across more than 30 categories: Electronics, Beauty, Books, Health, Home and Kitchen appliances, Sports, Toys and more.

All orders are shipped from the UAE directly to your address in Qatar. You complete the payment using both local and international debit and credit cards.

There are no surprises at the time of purchase or delivery. Users shopping from Qatar will see clear pricing, delivery times, and shipping costs, fully inclusive of import fees.

The entire delivery process is completely worry-free. All cross-border customs clearance (I know the pains and troubles people have gone through here) is managed by Amazon on the customers’ behalf.

Got any issues with your order? Customer support will also be available in both Arabic and English.

Start shopping on Amazon

This new shopping experience is accessible through the Amazon shopping app (recommend that you update on iOS/iPadOS/Android) or by visiting http://www.amazon.ae.

  • Access the Amazon app or visit Amazon.ae, sign in with your current account details or set-up an account in just a few easy steps if they are new to Amazon.
  • In the Amazon App, go to the app’s settings and select ‘United Arab Emirates’ and customize their language preferences. The rest is all handled automatically displaying the available products, while clearly listing pricing and shipping information for customers.

The timing of this announcement is quite beneficial, given that a major shopping period is only a few weeks away *ahem* White Friday *ahem*. That will let you enjoy the biggest sale of the year complete with incredible deals and promotions.

While other brands have setup online shopping and delivery in Qatar, this will definitely up the competitive scale for pushing more e-commerce activities towards onine shopping.

So, I wonder when they’ll bring drone deliveries to the region?
