Looks like smartphone makers are now ramping up with releases and announcements of their new mobile devices. While it was first released in China near the end of 2021, the Huawei P50 Pro s now making its way to international markets.
Huawei P50 Pro is reborn
Huawei definitely had a challenge to create a new phone, especially with the ongoing tech sanctions against it barring purchase of certain tech equipment.
The major difference inside the international models is the chipset powering it. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 4G SoC powers the models being sold outside of China. However, the Huawei P50 Pro doesn’t support 5G.

The back side gives you a clear view of their new Dual-Matrix Camera system with the standard camera bump. One group covers the Ultra-Wide, Wide and Telephote lenses; the other one is dedicated to the the periscope lens that helps with a 100x zoom range. A new set of image sensors help to capture more detail and colour, paired with their proprietary XD Optics and XD Fusion Pro image engine.
The software bringing it all together is EMUI 12, based on the open-source Android version. You won’t have access to Google Play Store and its related services. That won’t stop you from sideloading apps, as long as you can download the APK installers.
Don’t dismiss the Huawei AppGallery, as it’s been growing with more apps and games. You’ve got to hand it to Huawei for working diligently to onboard more developers for releasing their apps on Huawei.
If you’re looking to peek inside this new flagship, look no further than the below table.
