With so many SVOD services (Netflix, Disney+, OSN+, etc.) boasting large library content, we’ve also seen specialised ones showing up catering to a more focused audience (*ahem* Crunchyroll for anime lovers).
While many have raised their prices or kept it the same, Crunchyroll is doing the complete opposite by reducing their Premium membership pricing.
Netflix and StarzPlay have been strengthening their anime offering, whether it’s licensing it from the studios themselves or using the same style with original IP. An SVOD service’s library can only be as large as their wallet and it’s known that Crunchyroll has the largest anime library.
To give some context to the price change, the Mega Fan option changes from US$ 9.99 to AED 19 (~US$ 5.22) per month. Below are the list of countries from North AFrica to the Middle East and the South Asia region that will enjoy the new revisied subscription pricing.
- Qatar
- UAE
- Saudi Arabia
- Bahrain
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Yemen
- Iraq
- Jordan
- Lebanon
- Palestine
- Turkey
- Egypt
- Morocco
- Algeria
- Tunisia
- India
- Pakistan
- Bangladesh
- Sri Lanka
Does reducing the subscription means that they may have to cut some features? Their FAQ reiterates that nothing will change at all (even the library of content). Existing users will enjoy the new pricing with their next subscription cycle. New users will get to enjoy it immediately on signup.
P.S: I’ve also reached out to Crunchroll team to see if Ic an get a complrehensive list of all prices for the respective countries.
