When the COVID-19 pandemic started confiing people to their homes, the only form of movie entertainment was done solely through SVOD. STARZPLAY, the MENA region’s SVOD service, reported a big jump in viewing consumption especially during the Ramadan period.

With Apple TV+ already available with a one-year trial for users and Netflix’s dominance in the region, how does StarzPlay compete? By doing the one thing that brings a bit more convenience especially for Apple TV users.

StarzPlay is now available to customers across the region through Apple TV channels on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs. This makes StarsPlay the first major content partner for Apple TV channels in the MENA region.

STARZPLAY offers incredible entertainment for the whole family, including Hollywood and Arabic movies, TV shows, documentaries, kids’ entertainment and original content. That’s access to thousands of premium titles, the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and the freshest Arabic content.

Effective immediately, customers in the following countries can easily sign up for a 7-day trial and subscribe to STARZPLAY directly from the Apple TV app:

  • UAE
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Oman
  • Bahrain
  • Qatar
  • Lebanon
  • Jordan
  • Egypt

Subscribers through Apple TV channels can watch online on demand or enjoy offline downloads of their favourite shows on the Apple TV app. With Family Sharing, up to six friends or family members can share subscriptions to Apple TV channels using just their Apple ID and password.

Even with the successful efforts of their first English original series, StarzPlay is serious about competing in the SVOD segment across the region.
